Interior Designer in Frederick: Serving Lake Linganore Neighborhoods

Give Your Home A Refresh

Lake Linganore is one of those places people move to and never really leave. The neighborhoods around the lake have a different feel than other parts of Frederick County — a little more tucked away, a lot more community-oriented, and full of homes that people are genuinely invested in. We’ve worked with a good number of Lake Linganore residents over the years, and the one thing they almost always have in common is that they care about their homes. They just aren’t always sure how to get them looking the way they’ve imagined.

Zoltan Design Co. is a Frederick-based interior design studio, and we work with homeowners and businesses throughout the area — including the Lake Linganore communities in New Market and the surrounding neighborhoods. Whether you’re in one of the older homes closer to the water or a newer build out toward the newer sections of the development, we’ve seen the range and we know how to work with all of it.

Residential Interior Design

Homes around Lake Linganore tend to have a lot of personality. Some of them have great natural light, interesting architectural details, views worth designing around. Others are solid, well-built homes that just haven’t been updated in a while and have sort of accumulated furniture and finishes that don’t quite go together anymore.

Both of those situations are exactly what residential interior design is for.

When we work with a homeowner in the Lake Linganore area, we start by really looking at the space — not just what’s in it but what it could be. What does the light do in the morning? How does the floor plan flow? What’s the view from the main living areas? All of that informs the design before we ever talk about furniture or color palettes.

From there we build a plan that fits how you actually live. We’re not trying to create a showroom. We’re trying to create a home that works for your daily life and happens to look exactly the way you’d want it to. We handle everything from furniture selection and layout to lighting, window treatments, rugs, artwork, and accessories. The whole picture.

A lot of our residential clients come to us saying they’ve tried to pull a room together on their own and it’s just not working. That’s not a failure — it’s actually the most common thing we hear. Design is harder than it looks, and having a trained eye in the space makes a real difference.

Why Lake Linganore Residents Work With Us

We get asked sometimes what makes us different from other interior designers in the Frederick area. Honestly? We think it comes down to the way we work with clients.

We’re not going to tell you what your home should look like. We’re going to listen to how you want it to feel, look at what you’ve already got, understand your budget, and then build something that’s actually yours. We push back when we think a choice isn’t going to work the way a client hopes, and we’re honest about costs and timelines. People don’t always love hearing that, but they always appreciate it later.

We’ve done a lot of work in the Lake Linganore and New Market areas, and we’ve got a real feel for the homes out there. The architectural styles, the typical layouts, the light situations, the outdoor-to-indoor connection that so many of these homes have. That familiarity means we spend less time getting oriented and more time actually designing.

Most of our new clients find us through referrals from past clients. That’s the best indicator we know of that we’re doing something right.

Start With a Conversation

If you’ve been thinking about redesigning a room — or a few rooms, or the whole house — the first step is just talking it through. We’ll hear about your space, what you’re hoping for, and what your budget looks like. From there we can give you a clear sense of what we can do and how we’d approach it.

Questions People Actually Ask

Is it worth hiring an interior designer for just one room?

Absolutely. In fact, a lot of our best projects are single rooms — often the living room or master bedroom — where the homeowner just couldn’t quite get it to come together on their own. The value of bringing in a designer isn’t about the size of the project, it’s about getting a space that actually works. Even a single well-designed room can change how a whole home feels.

We work all over the Frederick area. We’ve done plenty of projects in the Lake Linganore and New Market communities, and we’re familiar with the homes out there. If you’re within a reasonable distance of Frederick we’re likely able to help — just reach out and we’ll let you know.

Most people can’t describe their style in design terminology — and that’s completely fine. We don’t need you to know whether you want “transitional” or “organic modern” or anything like that. We ask different questions: How do you want to feel when you walk in the room? What do you want to avoid? What are some spaces you’ve been in that felt right to you? That conversation gets us to the same place, just in a more natural way.

It really depends on the scope. A single room refresh — furniture, rugs, lighting, accessories — can come together in a few weeks once we have a plan. A kitchen renovation or larger multi-room project takes longer, often several months, and lead times on furniture and materials can extend timelines further. We set realistic expectations upfront so there are no surprises along the way.
