At Christopher Zoltan Designs, we believe that truly timeless spaces are born at the intersection of heritage and innovation. That’s why we’re honored to be part of the extraordinary renovation of The Inn at Vaucluse Spring, a beloved historic property nestled in the heart of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley.

Set to reopen in 2025, the reimagined boutique inn is poised to become a beacon of luxury, sustainability, and culinary excellence. Under the passionate vision of chef proprietor and co-owner Jan Van Haute, The Inn will offer an immersive experience that connects guests to the local culture, cuisine, and craftsmanship.

Our role? Bringing this vision to life from the inside out.

A Modern Take on Historic Charm

The inn’s suites and guest houses are being re-envisioned to offer the best of both worlds: the warmth and charm of a 200-year-old estate, seamlessly blended with the clean lines, comfort, and sophistication of modern design.

Inspired by the serene beauty of the European countryside and rooted in the rich character of the Shenandoah region, our interiors aim to feel both elevated and deeply grounded. From curated textures and natural palettes to thoughtful details that echo the property’s historic bones, our approach honors the legacy of Vaucluse while welcoming a new generation of travelers.

Collaboration at Its Best

We’re thrilled to be working alongside a talented team of local partners, including Longhouse Architects, Caseco construction specialists, and Huntlands Landscape Architecture. Together, we’re creating a cohesive vision that extends from the interior spaces to the lush 44-acre grounds—complete with a spa, pool, and gardens that will provide fresh produce for the on-site restaurants.

It’s more than a renovation. It’s a reinvention—with deep respect for place, people, and purpose.

We can’t wait for guests to experience the result.

ABOUT LESLIE LOFGREN

Leslie Lofgren’s “ah-ha” career moment arrived as she passed the Basilica of San Giovanni on a sunny day in Rome. She was living in Italy following graduation from the University of Iowa with a degree in English literature. While she always had a passion for interior design, it never occurred to her until that moment that design could be her profession. Lofgren took an intensive language course, earned her certificate of fluency in Italian and was accepted to study design at Istituto Europeo di Design (IED.) After completing design school, she moved back to the U.S. and began her dream career.

Leslie has a deep appreciation and love for all design styles, which makes it incredibly fun and satisfying to work on the array of assignments at Zoltan Design Co. She believes each project is as unique as the client, and she strives to make sure the individual personality shows through in the finished product.
